Return of the sketchbook
I draw in my sketchbook almost every day, even if just a cursory doodle. It’s how I process and investigate the world around me, chronicle my life, record moments of import (both big and small) and work out artistic problems.
What I don’t do a lot of is sharing, mainly because I could never get used to life at the speed of the internet. I prefer spending time in the physical world, and those that know me are sick of me hearing about the dangers of social media, etc. But I’ve known for a while that making art and sharing it is core to a rich practice, and folks genuinely seem to enjoy my pages when they stumble across them in “real life.”
This is all to say that I’m going to start filling out this woefully empty sketchbook blog with pages from my current book, and might even fill in the previous years with pages of books past. Sure, its flinging drawings and writings on paper into the void, but in my opinion the void could use more of the handmade human touch.
